Connecting mind, body and spirit is one of the intentions of yoga, the same can be said of art. This approach of connecting both internally and externally are central to Heather Hansen's interdisciplinary art. As an artist, she has found a way to express her spirit in a poetic and mesmerizing way. Using charcoal to record the motions of her body, she first finds stillness and connection to self, only then allowing the body to flow into forms revealing her holistic art. Snapshots of her creative process reveal mindful postures similar to yoga asanas. Her movements are fluid, rhythmic and definite as she finds personal oneness in body, mind and spirit.
Heather is embarking on a new project called HARMONIC, which will be featured in New Orleans at Prospect 3+, a contemporary art biennial. HARMONIC is set to be an immersive 360 degree full-dome screen film, exploring spherical harmonic function through kinetic drawing, movement and sound.
