As I mentioned in our last post, Fall is Vata season. It's getting cooler and windier outside and many of us are getting busier as we move into Fall. The Fall season has the tendency to push our Vata dosha out of balance and result in feelings of anxiety, stress, insomnia, digestive issues, and ungrounded energy. I wanted to share with you the balancing effects of the Ayurvedic herb Ashwagandha as a nutritional tool to help ease our transition into Fall.
Ashwagandha is a calming and Vata balancing herb that helps the body deal with both physical and emotional stress. As an adaptogen, Ashwagandha helps support hormonal balance and harmonizes physiological functions in the body. It calms the nervous system and helps combat fatigue, bringing clarity and focus to the mind. Ashwagandha also supports the immune system, perfect for fighting off those Fall colds. Overall Ashwagandha brings ease to the body and mind, reduces anxiety, improves mood and supports optimal well-being.
Ashwagandha powder (1/2 teaspoon) is traditionally taken with warm water or tea, you can also add it to warm nut milk with other spices such as ginger and cinnamon, or add Ashwagandha to your morning smoothies.
