On Saturday we went up to San Francisco for Heidi Swanson's (101 Cookbooks) book signing at her beauty studio Quitokeeto. It was a pretty night filled with friendly faces, tasty food and creative spirit. Heidi's new book, Near & Far, is a real gem, my perfect kind of cookbook filled with regional vegetarian fare and international inspiration from some of my favourite countries - Japan, India, Morocco, France and Italy. I've been pouring over the recipes and just made the Simmered Winter Squash from the Japanese section last night with added collard greens, which was so nourishing and delicious. I'm looking forward to trying more recipes from the book, in the meantime check out some of the photos from the book signing.
The event was held at Quitokeeto with Omnivore Books on Food. Heidi had out saffron dates with rose petals, muhammara with with toasted walnuts and basil flowers, 20th Century Cafe had delicious potato knishes and dreamy honey cake, plus there was artful tea being poured by the ladies of Leaves and Flowers. Congrats to Heidi on a beautiful cookbook and collection of truly nourishing and creative recipes. Be sure to check out Heidi's new book here!
