We're beginning to design and decorate our new apartment, choosing each piece with thought and care as we take a minimal approach to design. We both really love the idea of Less is More, using this as a guiding principal for our new space. Over the last couple of years we have been actively purging things we don't need or love, removing clutter and bulk from our home. The most amazing thing we noticed when we started to really declutter is how this practice calms the mind. With a more minimal zen space, we both had more clarity and felt lighter and sharper.
When we were preparing for our move to California, we had the opportunity to really only take what we needed. We asked ourselves 'do we use it?' 'do we need it?' 'do we love it?' We wanted to surround ourselves only with things we love and we discarded and donated the rest. It was very cleansing to do this, releasing weight that was holding us down physically and energetically, allowing ourselves to move into the next phase of our lives with clarity and non-attachment. The result now in our apartment is a clear space, the mind reflects this clarity, and a fresh loving energy is building. As each essential piece grounds itself in the new home, design and intention moves into balance. We are making space for yoga, meditation, art, dance and love.
The pics below are inspiration for our new yogic space and home.
Spring is a great time to declutter and cleanse, try going through one of your rooms this week and start releasing things you no longer need that may be adding weight to your home and your self. Simplify. Less really is more...more time, more freedom, more quality, more essential goodness. declutter your life...declutter your mind.
