Modern minimalist architecture meets mindful design in this zen library in Nandaihe, China. The concrete library faces out towards the East China Sea and exudes a calm tranquil atmosphere. The library includes a reading hall, meditation space, resting area and activity space. The architects wanted to connect individuals to the sea, to give them a place to slow down, unfold and connect to the sounds and sights of the ocean. Each room and space was designed with the ocean in mind and observing how light and wind would enter into each room. Thoughtful design creates contemplative spaces, we love the growing emergence of this design in the world.
