Bindu, meaning dot or point, is the symbol of absolute consciousness. It is said that the bindu is the sacred symbol of the cosmos. It is where manifestation begins and ends. It is a symbol of creation, unity, and transcendence. This is the point where transformation and evolution emerges. The expression of bindu can be seen in tantric art, in the aum symbol, the bindi, and in Tantra yoga.
In Tantra yoga, the Bindu chakra is located at the back of the head where the hair begins to change direction in growth. It is beneath the whirl of hair about five inches from the top of the skull. In it's dormant state, the bindu chakra is represented by a dot; when activated the bindu chakra begins to cosmically flow and drip with vitality and health. Balancing the bindu chakra calms emotions, especially feelings of nervousness, anxiety and depression, and brings forth a feeling of harmony and wellbeing.
